Artist Bio

Valerie Wiebe is a singer/songwriter living and working on a farm, near Langham, SK. Writing her first song at the age of 12, she has been composing music for over 30 years. Valerie began singing with her family as a young child, performing with her three sisters at various church and community events. Throughout her school career, Valerie was involved in choirs, musicals and music programs.

Valerie has had formal voice training, obtaining a grade 9 certificate from the Conservatory of Music in 1982. As well, Valerie has had instruction in both piano and guitar. In 1982, Valerie received a music degree from Canadian Mennonite University ( formally known as Canadian Mennonite Bible College.) Valerie also has an Arts Education degree from the University of Regina, 1985, and a Fine Arts degree from the University of Sask., 1999.

Valerie has written music in a variety of styles, but primarily in a country gospel style. Valerie's music is heartfelt and inspirational. "I have to write music," she says, "it is like breathing to me. God has given me this gift and I just want to share it." Her first CD, Fallow Ground, was released in Nov. of 2005. The CD contains 13 songs, 11 original works and 2 hymn arrangements. She performs in local churches and at community events. Valerie has also composed several children’s musicals and instrumental music.

Valerie and her husband, Doyle, have two sons.
